This instalment, we will be delving into the world of music once again, electronic music in particular. Kal Edwards is currently taking a general pathway into music studies, after switching out of ATAR after Year 11. Following his decision to change pathways, he promptly discovered his interest in producing his own music and decided to pursue a music course at Nagle.
It is clear to see that Kal is thriving in the creative environment of his music class as he says that the creative freedom that the Arts has given him is far more enjoyable than his previous courses. Inspired by world famous acts like Timmy Trumpet, old-school legend Dr. Dre and Australian acts Will Sparks and Flume, Kal is drawn to the electronic style of music production. He does dabble in some other instruments but prefers to mix and master his music electronically.
Kal says his favourite thing about music production is the ways he can find and implement new sounds into his music, whether that be a new or unusual instrument, or changing and editing the existing sounds. It’s no doubt that due to his interest in electronic music, Kal says his dream gig would be at the iconic Belgian electronic dance music (EDM) mecca, Tomorrowland.
Kal is currently focused on expanding his repertoire of unique remixes and entirely new projects. He is looking to gain notoriety for live shows and a larger client base to continue growing and expanding his skills.
We look forward to seeing and hearing more of Kal’s work, and we acknowledge and congratulate him on his work thus far, great work Kal!
