Our Year 8 Dance students have been thriving under the guidance of Ms Jodie Hadley, none more so than Jordan McDonald, who has worked really hard this Term. Jordan also attends All Things Dance, where she started Dance classes at the beginning of 2009 when Jordan was just 3 yrs old. Her main 3 teachers over all those years have been Miss Karen, Miss Jadine and Miss Ky.
Jordan has been dazzling crowds, most recently at the Gala Ballet Event at the Crown Casino in front of 200 spectators. Whilst captivating Crown Casino crowds, Jordan has also been putting her time and effort into her singing and drama capabilities, a true triple threat. In the build-up to Jordan’s performance at the Casino, she would travel to and from Perth every fortnight for a two-month period to attend rehearsals and practise. These rehearsals were all for a ballet performance, however, Jordan doesn’t limit herself to just one discipline: she is currently exploring avenues in slow modern, lyrical (story-based), contemporary, jazz, hip-hop and acro dance styles. Amongst these sectors, Jordan says contemporary is her favourite, as she enjoys the uniqueness of the moves attached to that genre, as well as the resulting array of interpretations.
After performing in last year’s presentation of Nagle’s ‘Rags to Riches’, Jordan set her sights on pursuing these creative ventures as a possible career avenue. She says that the famed New York City Broadway scene is where she can see herself, as the mixture of singing, dancing and story-telling are central to the show. Although it would be nice, Jordan says, the fame and followers are not important to her, which is reflected when talking about her role models and inspirations. Jordan looks up to local dancers and performing artists for her inspiration, including some former Nagle students and seniors in her dancing group. This grounded approach to her role models and growth will set her in good stead to continue her Dancing and improve her skills in the future.
We would like to recognise and congratulate Jordan on continued high standard of work and we are on the lookout for her next performances, great work Jordan!
