This week’s we will be having a look at the wonderful Artwork and photography of one of our talented Year Nines, Benecia Geqwin. Currently studying the Year Nine Digital Photography course, Benecia has been enjoying a variety of Art courses at Nagle since Year Seven.
Benecia’s skills as a Photographer truly shine when focusing on her favourite subject matter, Wildlife or Animal Photography. Benecia’s love of creativity and exploration is conveyed through her unique, award-winning Photographs. Benecia’s also an award winner! In 2016, her picture of a local Motorbike Frog, won First prize in the Year 3-6 section of the Chevron Focus Environment ‘Photography Competition’ Benecia’s win was really impressive, considering the Photography competition is open to all Primary and Secondary students across Western Australia.
Although she is passionate about her photography, Benecia says she isn’t bound to one medium, and she continues to explore new Arts pathways. In 2019 she has really enjoyed developing skills in Painting and Illustration. Benecia’s hand painted Skateboard, completed in the first Semester of this year during her Year Nine Painting and Drawing course, earned Benecia further acclaim through the Catholic Arts, Angelico Competition. The Exhibition is highly contested amongst students studying Arts in Western Australian Catholic Schools.
Most recently Benecia has been studying negative and positive spaces within her photography, as well as incorporating colour gels, which act as a coloured filter on the photographs. These new techniques have been improving Benecia’s work and enhancing her skillset which is a credit to her dedication and passion for the Arts. Although she has been taking classes and creating Art for as long as she can remember, Benecia says that the ability to convey a story, plot or emotion through an image is what keeps her motivated
We would like to give a big congratulations to Benecia on all her work so far and we eagerly await her next project, well done Benecia!
