GREat - get real experience and try nursing and midwifery program
The GREaT program provides Year 10 students with the opportunity to learn about Nursing and Midwifery via a structured hands on experience in a health care setting. GREaT provides students with a five-day placement at various public health sites in the metropolitan and regional areas of Western Australia. Over 5 consecutive days students will rotate through many areas to find out what it’s really like to be a nurse or midwife and what nurses and what their roles involve.
Sometimes young people disregard the option of nursing or midwifery based on preconceived, and often incorrect, ideas – usually based on what they see on TV. This program provides students access to observe nurses and midwives, who are highly educated health professionals, as they lead the care provided to patients. For more information click here.
