Claire Dunn is an enthusiastic and talented Year Nine Media student. Studying Media in Year 9 provides Claire opportunities to express her ideas through the current ‘Stop Motion Animation Project’ using different Media techniques including Photography, Set design, modelling and finally editing in Adobe Software. Access to these materials and resources, as well as guidance from her Arts Teacher has provided Claire a creative platform for bringing her wonderful imagination to life.
Claire has created an amazing miniature film set using modelling clay, small intricate doll’s house pieces and her own creations. Claire has cleverly combined all the items to create a realistic ‘small scale model’ bathroom for her stop-motion animation project.
Inspired by the Artistic style of Aardman Studios the people behind Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep and Chicken Run, Claire will set up her tripod, camera and lightbox station to capture a seamless stop motion animation using single shots. Each movement requires a ‘single shot’. Stop Motion Animation works in ‘Frames per second’; For example ‘10 frames per second’ requires 10 single shots to create a second of film. Claire will manipulate her ‘Model clay figure’ within her small scale model bathroom to create movement and a narrative.
Claire has excelled in her Media class and is also enjoying her Year Nine Painting & Drawing course. If Claire had it her way, she would have her timetable filled with Arts courses.
Claire’s exceptional creativity and dedication to her craft has not gone unnoticed by the NCC Arts Department, who are very excited about her project and the potential she has already shown so far this year. Claire wishes to pursue a career as a Concept Artist for Film productions, in particular, the Fantasy Film Genre. We congratulate Claire on her outstanding work and cannot wait to see the final product.
Claire is the first of our ‘NCC Artist Profiles’ for 2019. The Nagle Arts Department is looking forward to sharing similar stories of enthusiastic and talented Nagle Arts Students and the amazing work they are involved in throughout the Year.
